MAAT worked with Neeson Murcutt Neille and the School’s Foundation Principal to establish a wayfinding and signage strategy for the new site; and a design approach that linked to two other key neighbours in the same precinct - St Joseph Catholic Church, and St Joseph’s Preschool & Long Day Care.
The scheme uses timber, woodgrain and shapes derived from joinery detailing to reference the carpentry story of St Joseph. Playful supergraphic characters were created from building block graphics, to identify the toilets for the primary students.
In the carpark, an entry supergraphic derived from the growth rings of trees, welcomes students & families in 4 local languages - Gadigal, Dharawal, Bidjigal/Dharug & English.
